At Kator Dunn Farm, every hunting season begins long before the first Warrior arrives. It starts with the dedication of volunteers who give their time, energy, and talents to prepare the property for the experiences that lie ahead.

This month, an enthusiastic group of volunteers gathered at the farm for a work weekend in preparation for the 2026–2027 hunting season. It was a weekend of hard work, camaraderie, shared meals, and a common commitment to creating meaningful outdoor experiences for the veterans we serve.

Preparing the Farm for Another Season of Purpose

The work that goes into preparing Kator Dunn Farm for hunting season is an essential part of our mission. Maintaining the property and preparing for upcoming hunts helps us provide a welcoming environment where Warriors can step away from the demands of everyday life and reconnect with nature, fellow veterans, and themselves.

Our volunteers play an important role in making these experiences possible. Their willingness to roll up their sleeves and contribute their time reflects the spirit of service that is at the heart of Kator Dunn Farm.

Whether helping with seasonal preparations, maintaining the property, or lending a hand wherever needed, every volunteer contributes to our ability to welcome Warriors for another season of hunting, fellowship, and outdoor adventure.

Good Food, Great Company, and a Shared Commitment

Of course, a work weekend at Kator Dunn Farm wouldn’t be complete without gathering around the table!

As these photos from the weekend show, sharing a meal is an important part of the experience. Volunteers came together to enjoy good food, conversation, and a well-deserved break from the day’s activities.

These moments of fellowship are more than an opportunity to recharge. They reflect the sense of community that makes Kator Dunn Farm special.

The relationships built around the table, in the field, and through a shared commitment to serving others are part of what keeps our mission moving forward.

And judging by the smiles around the table, there was no shortage of good company!

More Than a Hunt

Kator Dunn Farm provides eco-therapy retreats for veterans, offering opportunities to experience the restorative benefits of nature through hunting, conservation, and outdoor recreation.

For the Warriors who participate in our programs, time at the farm offers an opportunity to leave the noise of everyday life behind, enjoy the outdoors, and build connections with others who understand the experiences of military service.

Our hunting retreats are about much more than the pursuit of game. They are about fellowship, renewed purpose, and the opportunity to experience the peace and perspective that time in nature can provide.

The preparations made during this work weekend help lay the groundwork for those experiences.

Thank You to Our Volunteers!

We look forward to welcoming our Warriors back to the farm for another season of hunting, conservation, camaraderie, and connection.
